The bible and quran, are both such disgusting piece of humiliation to humanity, It’s so disgraceful, hurtful, disrespectful, denigrating and so on. I want to burn all the bibles and qurans NOW!!!

I presume that one of “the things” is making children. In the Urantia Book, it clearly states that God wants you to make children.

As silly as this may seem, it’s true. We do bad to many things, but God forgives, and justifies us, for us, by being punished for the things, we did.

How’s this for the tl:dr version.

Matthew 22:37-40. 37Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38This is the first and great commandment. 39And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

There is coming a day people search out your own salvation with fear and trembling according to the scriptures for this time.

    1 Corinthians 15:1-4
1Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.

I suppose you have read all of the books, Each chapter, page by page. BOTH Quran and the Bible? If so, then I will let you have your opinion in peace, if not. Then your opinion is worthless. It’s like saying you hate a person you have never met, just by hearing the name.. og wait, that’s happening all over the world. Ah well.. never mind then

The problem is that religion is about relationship, not about negatives. (unless your choice of religion is negative) If you like this posting
it is because you like to straw man.

  14. Eric

    November 24, 2014 at 12:07 am

Tom, you imply those who find this amusing are doing it via a straw man argument. The problem is, your own comment is a clear straw man of its own. You’re talking about what religion is, versus what the article is – the text of a book, not any religion. And all the posts are about books as well – not specific religions. If people had discussed how much they hate Catholics and the article shows why, then your comment would be understandable. As is, however, the only straw man I see in the comments is yours.

Way to be ignorant and intolerant. Unless you have read both books through front to back you have no justification for your comment. If you don’t like what you read on a post, just leave the page.

Id agree its certainly intolerant and unnecessary to suggest anyone should burn another persons religious book. However ignorance is not having knowledge or information about a subject. You need neither of these things to establish science disproves every god.

  21. Jeffrey

    November 26, 2014 at 11:13 am

You do not need to read the entirety of a book to come to a rational judgement of it or the characters contained within, just like you don’t need to know every detail about a person to judge them.

The god of the Bible is an evil tyrant that commands or performs so much evil it isn’t funny and no decent human being would call it good or claim to follow it. The god of the Quran is the same.

Both books are filled with horrid commands that no decent human being would follow. They are also quite ignorant of reality.

You don’t need to know every single word to come to these conclusions.

You would only need that to be able to conclude these gods never commanded or carried out evil according to the books, or claims similar to them.

Just like you don’t need to know every detail about Hitler to know he was bad.

  22. Jeffrey

    November 26, 2014 at 11:20 am

A big problem with this is it leaves out what these things are.
For the original, it is eating a piece of fruit that will let you know God allegedly made you in a shameful way, complete with God lying to you about what would happen if you eat it.

It then had a bunch of retarded stuff that makes no sense and there is nothing wrong with doing like planting seeds together, wearing poly-cotton and so on, as well as the things you need to do sometimes being quite evil, liking killing people for picking up firewood on Saturday or have rape victims killed or married to their rapist.

It also leaves out all the contradictions with itself and reality.

    A better tl,dr:
in fantasy land God created people as toys to show off to and have worship and obey him.
He uses disobedience as an excuse to torment them, sometimes messing with their free will to prolong the torment.
he then allegedly sends his son to basically contradict him, meaning it is far more likely Jesus is Satan.

  23. ilstarapeiron

    November 26, 2014 at 7:19 pm

No, Jesus is not Satan or Lucifer. Jesus is for God, whereas the other two supposedly contradicted God with their blasphemy – the same kind of lies that you have mentioned.

On the other hand, Lucifer and Satan were simply used for God’s benefit of reaping even more good thanks to the evil that occurred. However, there is a better way – having an integrative mind beyond good and evil would prevent such rebellions from ever occurring again.

And to those who question the existence of God, know that mainstream science is incomplete and contradictory. The new integrative sciences help us conceive of God.

Plenty of people have studied them cover to cover. The bible and the quran tell you to kill people who don’t agree with you. They are full of horrible things done by a nasty god. I gave it all up. It’s all just stories written by people.

  28. paulalovescats

    December 30, 2014 at 12:25 am

I can quote the bible too.
Numbers 5: The Lord said to Moses, if anyone has a sickness, kick them out of camp to die because I have no idea about medicine or the human body. Also, if a man suspects that the baby of his pregnant wife doesn’t belong to him, take her to the priest and her drink a concoction to abort the baby and leave her barren.
Leviticus 21: When you go to kill your neighbors and take their stuff, you can take their wives home and marry them so you can rape them legally.
If your kids are rebellious and they don’t listen to you, take them out of town and kill them for half an hour slowly with stones.
Romans 1:26 Gays are deserving of death.

The Jewish law (Leviticus, Numbers) was superseded by the New Testament. St Paul made the point often. As for St Paul’s own comment, you can take the Christian message or you can leave it. You can’t cherry-pick.

Automobiles can be misused and will kill people; airplanes can become bombers, atomic energy, steam energy, etc. etc., are all useful and dangerous. Each of these have a central purpose which people ignore such as using autos to show off wealth or to use in crimes. The role of religion and the texts associated with the religions is to focus our lives. But we are supposed to do so wisely just as we use the conveniences of this world for their intended purposes. Being cynical does nothing to answer the great questions: What is life for? How are we to live? Is this all there is to being alive? Only religions grapple with these great questions, sometimes well and often badly but what else is there?

God in his various cultural guises (about 2,000 different creation myths are recorded from around the world – some with better marketing departments than others), is merely a Santa Claus story for grown-ups!

    February 15, 2015 at 3:05 am

It is silly – you’re right about that. Got the proof of your god? No! You are being silly. ‘We’ do not accept that some invisible thing has defined certain actions as ‘sins’.
    “I” decide what are sins!

  47. Brien

    February 15, 2015 at 3:12 am

Wrong! We are tired of lies and fraud under the charlatan guise of religions – religions which have absolutely no facts, data, evidence or proof to back up any of their claims of ‘truth’.
So, “we” publically must object to outright lies being taught to our innocent and gullible children.
Our society is being attacked by liars and we are simply defending our lives from bullshit.

  50. Adam Strait

    February 15, 2015 at 9:25 am

I can almost hear the following monologue by Jesus to his disreputable friends, you know the tax collectors and sinners who were his drinking buddies: “OMG, my Dad is such a racist. Did you know that once he ordered the extermination of an entire race of people called the Amalekytes just because their ancestors had annoyed him 600 years beforehand! I mean Jeez! Talk about bearing a grudge. Call that a God of love? Because I don’t.”

There will always be those who distort Ideas for their own personal agenda or due to some odd interpretation of that idea. This applies to all ideas beyond just religion. People often forget the message and try instead to control what it means and who it applies to.

doomsauce, although, I do not believe in any religion, you just generalized all of the religions, and moreover, you generalized them incorrectly. You sir, are mentally impaired, TEXT “GO” TO 741-741 – and seek the help you are seeking for today!

    October 26, 2015 at 4:49 am

Then respect that which has verifiable and undoubted evidence and proof and can be substantiated by replication and peer review ie science. Personally I will not tolerate blatant lies taught to innocent and gullible children as though they are truth, eg creationism and gods.
