GOP Senator James Inhofe: Tornado Aid is ‘Totally Different’ From Hurricane Sandy

GOP Senator James Inhofe from Oklahoma recently argued that there is no comparison between Hurricane Sandy relief, which he voted against last fall, and disaster aid for his state after the devastating tornado, because the two are “totally different.”

In a report from the Washington Post on Tuesday, Inhofe claimed that the Hurricane Sandy relief bill was filled with pork projects. They were fixing roads [in the Virgin Islands] and putting roofs on houses in Washington, D.C.,” and that people were “exploiting the tragedy that took place,” He added: “That won’t happen in Oklahoma.”

Inhofe has voted against additional funding for FEMA in the past, though in 2008 he praised relief from the Department of Housing and Urban Development to Oklahoma counties that were affected by “severe weather.”

Inhofe’s GOP senate colleague, Senator Tom Coburn of Oklahoma, said he would push for federal aid to Oklahoma to be offset by cuts elsewhere. Like Inhofe, Coburn also voted against the relief package for Hurricane Sandy.

I heard nothing to back his claim that “Oklahoma will be different.” He is just trying to find a way around all the bulls**t that poured out of his mouth when he was fighting against any aid for Sandy. What he really means is “well it’s waste when it goes to another state, particularly one that is a blue state, but when it goes to my state that’s money well spent.” The sad part is they are too stupid to see the hypocrisy in their own words and actions.

What a load of right-wing crap. Inhofe and Coburn are anti-American TRAITORS who WILL be treated as such.
