Internet outrage over the killing of African wildlife is quickly turning from Walter Palmer to an Idaho hunter named Sabrina Corgatelli, who gleefully shows off her kills on Facebook along with a few choice bible verses.
But the bible verses she chooses aren’t random; they’re all used to justify her hobby – which doesn’t hold much clout considering that she not the first person in history to use religious texts as justification for going on a killing rampage.
From Hemant Mehta of Patheos:
We could always turn this around and say Corgatelli destroyed some of God’s creations. And if context is irrelevant, Romans 14:21 says ‘It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother or sister to fall.’ Checkmate, Christians.”
In an interview with NBC’s Today, Corgatelli reminded everyone that giraffes can be deranged killers.
“When you hunt an animal, there is — everybody just thinks we’re cold-hearted killers, and it’s not that,” she said. “There is a connection with the animal and just because we hunt them doesn’t mean we don’t have a respect for them.”
“But giraffes are very dangerous animals, she added. “They could hurt you seriously, very quickly.”
Not surprisingly, the backlash on Corgatelli’s Facebook page is pretty fierce.
