Rick Scott was so rattled by that Starbucks activist heckler that he ran an actual attack ad on her

When Governor Rick Scott made an impromptu appearance at a local Starbucks this Tuesday, he found himself confronted by Cara Jennings, a Florida resident who recognized him and gave him a piece of her mind.

After attempting to send one of his flunkies to quiet her down without success, Scott ducked out the door to avoid the dressing down while Jennings called after him, exclaiming, “You should be ashamed to show your face around here!”

“You cut Medicaid so I couldn’t get Obamacare,” Jennings yelled. “You’re an a**shole! You don’t care about working people.”

But the conflict didn’t end there. This Friday, the governor’s political action committee retaliated by releasing “Latte Liberal Gets an Earful” — a video response with a snide narrator who chuckles and calls Jennings a “latte liberal” and a “terribly rude woman” while ignoring the substance of her complaints.

“That woman clearly has a problem…And it turns out she’s a former government official who refused to recite the Pledge of Allegiance and calls herself an anarchist,” the narrator in the video says.

The ad goes on to taunt Jennings while referring to the original video.

“A million jobs? Great, who here has a great job, or is looking forward to finishing school?” the ad shows her saying. “Do you really feel like you have a job coming up?” The narrator then defends Scott’s record, claiming 9,300 jobs have been added in the Gainesville area and that unemployment was cut in half.

The narrator then mocks the fact that Jennings was in Starbucks at all.

“Almost everybody — except those who are sitting around coffee shops, demanding public assistance, surfing the Internet and cursing at customers who come in.”

Then, in a move not often seen in local politics, Scott stepped in to attack Jennings (a now-private citizen who once held office) personally, accusing her of being less than patriotic.

“People with radical views tend to not like civil debate. A self-proclaimed anarchist rudely yelled and cursed at the Governor. She also refused to Pledge Allegiance to the flag. It’s a free country, but it’s not at all surprising that an anarchist prefers shouting over conversation.”

Cara Jennings returned fire on Facebook, stating:

“The Governor’s PAC appears to have put out a video about me,” she wrote on Facebook. “So, if you call out the Governor you get the power of his PAC coming after you. Anyone see a problem with this power equation?”
