Satanists think John Boehner went too far when he called Ted Cruz ‘Lucifer in the flesh’

Earlier this week, former Speaker of the House John Boehner caused a media storm while speaking at Stanford University where he compared GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz to Satan.

“I have Democrat friends and Republican friends. I get along with almost everyone, but I have never worked with a more miserable son of a bitch in my life,” said Boehner when asked about what he thinks of the Texas Senator. Boehner then called Cruz “Lucifer in the flesh.”

After word got out about Boehner’s name-calling, Hemant Mehta of Patheos contacted The Satanic Temple to get their opinion on whether Ted Cruz is actually the devil or a crappy politician. Satanic Temple spokesman Lucien Greaves didn’t take to the comparison.

“Cruz’s failures of reason, compassion, decency, and humanity are products of his Christian pandering, if not an actual Christian faith. It grows tedious when pedophile priests and loathsome politicians are conveniently dismissed as Satanic, even as they spew biblical verse and prostrate themselves before the cross, recruiting the Christian faithful. Satanists will have nothing to do with any of them.”

RawStory described The Satanic Temple as “non-theistic activists who eschew religion and adhere to a set of humanistic tenets that promote compassion and reason.”

Who’d think that a religion that holds the devil as their figure head would be more open and progressive than the Republican party?

Ted Cruz responded to Boehner’s remarks by saying he “let his inner-Trump come out…”
