According to various reports, the Justice Department is opening an investigation into how the FBI and Justice Department officials handled their investigation of Hillary Clinton‘s emails during the 2016 presidential election.
Matters under investigation will include FBI Director James Comey‘s news conference in July and his two letters to Congress in late October and early November.
“In response to requests from numerous Chairmen and Ranking Members of Congressional oversight committees, various organizations, and members of the public, the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) will initiate a review of allegations regarding certain actions by the Department of Justice (Department) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in advance of the 2016 election,” the DOJ said.

The probe will be wide ranging — encompassing the FBI’s various public statements on the matter, whether its deputy director should have been recused and whether Department of Justice or FBI employees leaked non-public information, according to a news release from Inspector General Michael E.
