Chris Wallace confronts Reince Priebus: ‘How does arguing about crowd size help Americans?’

Appearing on this week’s Fox News Sunday, newly minted White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus was confronted by host Chris Wallace over White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer‘s “extraordinary” press conference this Saturday, where he relayed numerous falsehoods regarding crowd numbers at Donald Trump‘s inauguration.

“President Trump said in his inaugural address that every decision he makes will be to benefit American families,” Wallace said. “How does arguing about crowd size do that?”

On Saturday, Spicer attacked the press for saying that Trump‘s inauguration crowd wasn’t as big as President Barack Obama‘s. He also falsely claimed they had the “largest audience” for an inauguration.

Priebus told Wallace that crowd size wasn’t the issue, but “honesty in the media” is, adding that the Trump administration isn’t “gonna sit around and take it.”

Wallace then showed photos from both inaugurations and asked Priebus which one is bigger, to which Priebus claimed that the Trump inauguration photo was taken before his speech.

“There’s an obsession by the media to delegitimize this president, and we are not gonna sit around and let it happen. We’re gonna fight back tooth and nail every day, and twice on Sunday,” Priebus said.
