White supremacist who fired a gun during Charlottesville rally is arrested and charged

A 52-year-old Baltimore man who was caught on video firing a gun during the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville earlier this month has been arrested and charged, according to The Baltimore Sun.

Richard Wilson Preston was arrested this weekend and charged with discharging a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school.

According to reports, Preston is an imperial wizard in his local chapter of the KKK. Video of the incident first circulated by the Virginia ACLU shows Preston shoot a gun in the direction of a counter-protester during the August 12 rally.

Three people were killed during the rally, including Heather Heyer who was run over by a driver who was connected to white nationalists at the rally. Later in the day, two Virginia state troopers, Lt. H. Jay Cullen and Trooper-Pilot Berke M.M. Bates, were killed in a helicopter crash while responding to the violence.
