The world’s largest gun show is going on as planned in Las Vegas

In the wake of the deadliest mass shooting in modern history, the world’s largest annual gun show will go forward as planned in Las Vegas.

A statement issued by the National Shooting Sports Foundation says the organization will not be commenting on the shooting that happened this Sunday, where Stephen Paddock killed 59 people from two broken out windows in his hotel room at the Mandalay Bay.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of all those killed and injured in the criminal attack in Las Vegas,” the statement released on Tuesday read. “Out of respect for the families of the victims and the law enforcement process, we are not going to comment or participate in media requests made relating to this attack.

The SHOT Show will be held January 23-26 about 4 miles away from where the massacre occurred.

According to Fox News, last year the show brought in around 65,000 gun enthusiasts and members of the media.

The gun show is the fifth-largest trade show in Las Vegas with last year’s event showcasing over 6.5 million pounds of guns, gear and exhibits relating to hunting, shooting and fishing, the The New York Post reports.
