The human rights group Amnesty International has accused President Trump of promoting “hateful politics” and committing human rights abuses, according to the BBC.
“President Trump takes actions that violate human rights at home and abroad,” the group said in statement.
Trump was placed alongside the leaders of countries such as Egypt, China, Russia, the Philippines, and Venezuela in Amnesty’s annual report.
“The spectres of hatred and fear now loom large in world affairs, and we have few governments standing up for human rights in these disturbing times,” Amnesty head Salil Shetty said.
“Instead, leaders such as al-Sisi, Duterte, Maduro, Putin, Trump and Xi are callously undermining the rights of millions,” he continued, referring to the leaders of Egypt, the Philippines, Venezuela, Russia, the US and China.
The group also described Trump’s travel ban on Muslim majority countries a ” transparently hateful move.”

The report also slammed some world leaders’ willingness to utilize “fake news” as a means to manipulate public opinion.
“Donald Trump’s policies may have marked a new era of human rights regression but they are not unique,” Shetty said.
