A British study determined that this is the most romantic love letter ever written

Most men are useless when it comes to Valentine’s Day. Thankfully, there’s reference material available for those who want to make their significant other know they care – just bear in mind that plagiarism will disqualify you.

If you need some inspiration for this coming Saturday, look no further than the greatest love letter ever written. It was from the legendary country and folk singer Johnny Cash to his equally legendary wife, June Carter.

From Rolling Stone:

Proving he was not only a talented performer and songwriter, in 1994 Cash composed what a British poll deemed the most romantic love letter of all time, to his wife June on the occasion of her 65th birthday. Cash wrote, “You still fascinate and inspire me. You influence me for the better. You’re the object of my desire, the #1 Earthly reason for my existence.”

It was written in June of 1994 on Carter’s 64th birthday.

We get old and we get used to each other. We think alike. We read each [other’s] minds. We know what the other wants without asking. Sometimes we irritate each other a little bit. Maybe sometimes we take each other for granted.

But once in a while, like today, I meditate on it and realize how lucky I am to share my life with the greatest woman I ever met.

You still fascinate and inspire me. You influence me for the better. You’re the object of my desire, the #1 earthly reason for my existence. I love you very much.

Happy Birthday Princess.

John
