A Florida man sued his 11-year-old son’s school for neglecting the theory of evolution

Boca Raton father, son sue school district for not teaching evolution

Barry Silver and his son, Brandon, have filed the 18-page brief last month and served it the school board last Wednesday night.

A Florida man and his 11-year-old son are filing a lawsuit claiming the Palm Beach County school board does not teach the theory of evolution.

According to local station Wpbf, attorney Barry Silver and his son, Brandon, have filed the 18-page brief last month and served it the school board last Wednesday night.

“It’s such a magnificent story and it’s being neglected,” Silver said. “The students are being deprived of learning from it because certain religious people don’t like the story because it contradicts the Bible, and we think it is terrible that children shouldn’t learn the truth about where they came from.”

Silver’s son said his school teaches about the adaptations to environments, but does not elaborate further on the theory.

According to the lawsuit:

“There are currently schools and textbooks which provide false, misleading, and dangerous information about certain religions and purposely omit factual information if it appears unfavorable to them and/or politically incorrect, which cause Palm Beach County public school students not to receive a high quality education required by the Florida law.”

Silver said he is willing to work something out with the school board and he has no desire to proceed with the litigation. However if the district refuses to sit down with the Silvers, they plan to continue the fight.

“If they’re willing to sit down with us and talk about it and correct some of the things that are not proper in the school system about science we’re happy to resolve it with them,” Silver said. “If not, we’ll go ahead and serve it and we will vigorously litigate the lawsuit.”

This should have been done a long time ago in many other school districts where empirical evidence is suppressed in favor of a subtle religious agenda. I wish him well. It would probably be better if it went to court, as that would force others to fear retribution.

Good. A very necessary step to take albeit a gutsy one. I wish these two brave people the best.

Good for Silver. Had no idea that the PBC School Board was operating in the Dark Ages.

All those that say good are wrong! That is a religion and to believe it upon faith with no evidence, is to accept that religion. We are supposed to keep church and state separate. Keep this theory out of our schools! Unless you plan to teach the theoretical teachings of the various religions also!

You clearly have no background in either biology or science in general. As such, your claims that the theory of evolution is a religion are both unfounded and false.

The only reason you’re claiming evolution is a religion is because you wish to deceive those who do not know any better that evolution is just as bad as other religions when it comes to factual merits – which is absurd.

Perhaps you should research biology in detail before making claims such as these again.

Good for him. It is about time to take a stand against these religious bigots who only see things their way. This has to be discussed and be brought to the forefront.

Mr. eman, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
