‘Heavily armed’ active shooter opens fire near California polling station, kills one and wounds at least three

According to a breaking news report from the Los Angeles Times, one person was killed and at least three others wounded after a shooting near a polling place in Azusa, California this Tuesday.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Capt. Jeff Scroggin said police are looking for at least one suspect who is believed to be heavily armed.

Not many details are known about the shooting, which occurred sometime after 2 p.m. in a residential neighborhood.

“This is a very volatile and critical situation,” Officer Jerry Willison of the Azusa Police Department said.

The Times reports that Azusa Union School District issued a lockdown for Slauson Middle and Mountain View Elementary schools about 2:15 p.m. A nearby daycare center and preschool was also locked down.
