Alan Keyes warns if gays are treated equally, it may mean the ‘extinction of humanity’

Worried that gay rights will jeopardize the survival of humankind, former GOP presidential candidate Alan Keyes writes that states like Indiana are doing us all a service by denying equal rights to the LGBT community.

In his latest column at BarbWire, Keyes proclaimed that the purpose of marriage is “to perpetuate the human species” since it is “sourced in the authority of the Creator, and therefore antecedent to any and all humanly constructed rights.”

No amount of reasoning as to the subjective gratification individuals derive from the spiritual, emotional or physical aspect of same sex couplings is relevant to this burden of proof. It has to do with humanity as a concrete fact, not as a subjective abstraction. This explains the general prejudice of mankind against the institutionalization of such couplings. For if made into a law for all, over time the concrete material manifestation of humanity would cease to exist.

“Given that same sex couplings are, as such, barren, they therefore do not have the right to marry: “For if made into a law for all, over time the concrete material manifestation of humanity would cease to exist,” he wrote.

“This large-scale extinction of humanity now seems to be an acceptable goal for some elements of what I call the elitist faction,” Keyes concluded. “For the sake of the earth, of ecology, of environmental balance and purity, they seem to have conceived a righteous hatred against the existence of the human species, and therefore against its procreation.”

Gays have always been with us. Right wing fanatics have suppressed them from coming out of the closet until recently. There is no evidence whatsoever that the percentage of gay persons has increased. Homosexual bigotry is a man-made paranoia, based in part on ancient human-written documents and interpretation. We fear what we don’t understand, and we attempt to destroy what we fear. How about some compassion in the name of the God you profess to worship?

IDIOT!!! Gays will ALWAYS BE a minority because straight people, even by accident will ALWAYS have MORE children!!!
There is NO threat of a gay take over, and only the most stupid, most dishonest science deniers could ever believe otherwise!

The only “concrete fact” that Keyes has is that his mind (what little there is of it) is like concrete; all mixed up and permanently set

What an unhinged load of bullshit. The fact that a small minority of the population demands equal treatment even though they are not necessarily going to contribute to the population, does not mean humanity is going to die out. There is not even the pretense of an argument here. In fact, the planet is seriously overpopulated and our real problem is going to be how to accommodate all the people in the 21st Century.

So… With biotech, last year a researcher in japan was able to produce viable gametes in the form of both eggs and sperm from mouse skin cells, regardless of chromosomal makeup.

There are thousands of mice running around with same sex biological parents as we speak. With the continued advancements in these fields, plus things like a successful uterine transplant a while ago in sweden, or the invention of true in vitro techniques where a baby could be carried to term sitting on your mantelpiece with a power supply?

If this is anyone’s real, honest argument, I give it at most a decade before it’s completely irrelevant. My girlfriend and I are counting on it when making our future family planning considerations in fact…

What about the many married couples who either choose or cannot have children? What about the many loving homosexual couples who do have children?

By his logic I am SOL as well. Being a post menopausal widow @ 57, I can not pro create so I should not be allowed to re marry. Glad he cleared that up for me.

Is he saying the only reason everyone’s not gay is that gays aren’t treated equally?

This scumbag disowned his daughter after she publicly came out as gay. Alan Keyes is amongst the worst that humanity has to offer.

Mr. Keyes forgets or perhaps doesn’t know that the world population is growing at such a rate that there is some question as to whether the countries of the world will be able to feed them. The fact that homosexuals do not reproduce is actually a boon to the world.
He also forgets that his argument is akin to the argument of the South under Jim Crow- that if Negroes are given equal rights and inter-racial marriages become legal, we will have a mulatto race and there will no longer be any races. It is and was the rallying point of the Confederates.
I suppose if a black man is a Republican you can still expect him to be narrow-minded and a bigot.

Humans are busy causing their own extinction by ruining the air, the water and the soil. When we finally do kill ourselves off, that’s when the earth can begin to heal.

I wonder how many gay people are on welfare compared to straight people with tons of kids they can’t pay for?

There are over 7 BILLION of us on this planet. It’s going to take a lot more than 4% of us having “barren sex” to rid Mother Earth of the infestation that we are.

This is Poe’s Law in action. I read this out loud to my friends and they could not believe that a real public figure actually, said that in sincerity. “Is this for real? Did he actually say that?!?”

Seven billion people on this world, and he worries about the future of heterosexual breeding because gay sex is potentially too seductive. Does anyone else think this sounds suspect?

I wouldn’t have expected comments like that coming from a black man that looks old enough to have been around during the civil rights era.

Someone should tell Keyes to replace the word, “Gay” with “Black” within that law. Let’s see if he or anyone feels the same way…….
