An American tourist got his a** kicked in Germany for giving a Nazi salute

This Saturday morning in the German city of Dresden, a American tourist was having a few drinks at a bar when he decided to go out in the street and give a few Nazi salutes. Unfortunately for him, he came across someone who likes to punch Nazis.

According to The Guardian, the 41-year-old tourist was “slightly injured” in the attack and it now being investigated for violating the country’s law against promoting the symbols of banned organizations.

From The Guardian:

The incident happened on Saturday morning as the tourist, who was “strongly under the influence of alcohol”, left a bar in the eastern city’s Neustadt area and repeatedly gave the Hitler salute on the street.

“An unknown passerby then beat up the man and slightly injured him,” the statement said.

The assailant, who has not been found, faces charges of causing bodily harm, it added.

Since the end of WWII, public displays of swastikas and “sieg heil” salutes have been banned by Germany. A violation of the ban can be punishable by up to 3-years in prison, although fines are usually imposed instead.

Just a week before, two Chinese tourists were detained after giving Nazi salutes outside Berlin’s Reichstag and given a fine of $600.
