Ann Coulter declares that it’s time to ‘abolish the FBI’

During a segment with radio host Howie Carr this Tuesday, conservative commentator, Trump enthusiast, and disseminator of racist dog whistles Ann Coulter declared that it’s time to “disband the FBI.”

As the two discussed recent events surrounding Trump and the Russia investigation, Carr brought up the fact that Coulter’s father was an FBI agent and asked her if it’s discouraged for FBI agents to “get themselves into potentially blackmailable situations.”

Carr was referring to the alleged extramarital affair between FBI agent Peter Strzok and former FBI lawyer Lisa Page, who both worked for Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election. During a House Judiciary Committee hearing last week, GOP Rep. Louie Gohmert confronted Strzok over the affair.

“Why was there no investigation of Strzok? Strzok just got promoted up through the ranks because he was such a rabid Democrat, even though he was violating every rule in the book,” Carr said.

According to Coulter, the outrage is enough to have the storied law enforcement agency done away with.

“It’s time to disband the FBI,” Coulter replied. “This is not J. Edgar Hoover’s FBI, which was so good that liberals are still hysterical over it.”

“You not only had to be a lawyer back then in order to be an FBI agent—as I think I’ve told you on your program before,” she continued. “It wasn’t strictly policy but J. Edgar Hoover … generally preferred Catholics and Mormons on the grounds that they were incorruptible.”

“They were very, very honest and you could trust them. And you didn’t really have a lot of trouble under Hoover. We were actually having an enemy in Russia then.”

Coulter also made sure to point out that back then, all FBI agents were men.
