Union workers boo when Trump says ‘everybody in this room supported me’

During a speech to construction union members this Tuesday in Washington D.C., President Trump faced a rare moment when some members of the audience became openly hostile after he suggested he had their unanimous support.

As he’s done so many times before during a speech, Trump wandered into one of his favorite subjects: his election victory. According to various reports, the speech was overall well-received, but Trump seemed to take the audience’s support for granted when he declared that he and his campaign had “tremendous support” from “almost everybody in this room.”

Igor Bobic of The Huffington Post said things started to go south when one audience member stood up and said “Nope, nope!” in response to Trump’s comments, which was followed by scattered jeers from the audience, presumably directed towards the President.

As disapproval emanated from pockets in the crowd, Trump’s demeanor seemingly changed from braggadocious to annoyed:

“And I’ll tell ya, we really had the support of the workers. We had tremendous support of the workers,” he said with a slight sneer. “Well, would you like to make a change folks? … Because if anybody wants to make a change, you won’t be having so many jobs, that I can tell you.”
