Fresh off the devastating report from the WHO earlier this week that bacon is as bad for us as cancer (and don’t even get them started on hot dogs), we have a reminder that the world’s current oldest woman eats 4 strips of bacon EVERY MORNING.
According to the Independent, Susannah Mushatt Jones is 116 years old, the oldest living person today and eight years shy of the oldest living person of all time (Jeanne Calment, Vincent Van Gogh hater and apartment dweller). She lives in Brooklyn and has a positive demeanor and a great attitude. Her secret? Breakfast. Jones eats eggs, grits, and four strips of bacon every morning.
Four. Four strips of bacon. Every. Single. Morning.
A daily breakfast of bacon, eggs and grits (boiled ground corn), combined with “lots of sleep”, has enabled the super centenarian to live across three centuries having been born in a small farm town near Montgomery, Alabama, in July 1899

I feel bad when I have three strips of bacon once a month, like I’m breaking some sort of L.A. code on how much food happiness we’re allowed to have with every meal. Jones is a hero.
I might still stay away from hot dogs though. That sh*t is nasty.
