Bristol Palin: Starbucks cup controversy ‘an attempt by the left to make Christians look stupid’

This past week, Starbucks cups have unexpectedly been thrown into the national spotlight, with everyone from CNN to Donald Trump weighing in on the Reindeer-less design. Bristol Palin jumped on the issue today, but in a startling change of pace, told Christians not to buy into the manufactured controversy.

In a blog post published Tuesday, Palin explained that the entire controversy stemmed from Internet viral pastor Joshua Feuerstein’s video rant. Palin said that only a small amount of people side with Feuerstein, but the media ran with the story in order to make Christians look stupid.

“They used one small group’s opinion about the cups and began attributing it to the greater Christian community,”Palin wrote. “The mainstream media and the Left love their outrage machine where they claim the world is ending because any number of tiny people have expressed hurt feelings on social media. So now, they’re taking a tiny fraction of people’s response and attributing it to all conservative Christians.”

Palin advised Christians to simply avoid the controversy and not to feed the media. Since Feuerstein’s initial video was widely reported, the outrage has only spiraled out of control. However, at the same time, the liberal mockery has increased as well. Over the weekend, the #MerryChristmasStarbucks hashtag was mainly exploited by sarcastic tweets.

Telling her readers to ignore the controversy, Palin encouraged Christians to “truly share the love of Christ with our neighbors and communities who are hurting so much this season.”

As for Starbucks, the former barista prefers to buy her coffee from local vendor Mocha Moose.
