Christian pastor: Larry Nassar sexually abused girls because of gymnastics’ skimpy clothing

Speaking on his radio program this Friday, Pastor Kevin Swanson took on the case of former USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar, who sexually abused over 150 of the women and girls he treated over a period of years. According to Swanson, Nassar’s abuse was partly influenced by the “fair amount of immodesty” within the gymnastics competition world.

As reported by Right Wing Watch, Swanson warned Christian parents to keep their kids away from sports because they “tend to focus on the body.”

“There is an infatuation with the body, and, of course, the sexual aspects of the body as well,” Swanson said.

He then suggested that the revealing clothing in some sports contributes to this immodesty.

“Some sports encourage immodesty, revealing large portions of the body and this happens in some sports,” Swanson continued. “These are the risky sports. Here they are, what are the risky sports? Gymnastics. Gymnastics and swimming. These are the sports in which there is an added risk.”

“Why are all of the gymnasts [at] more of a risk than other sports?” Swanson asked. “Do you really want your daughters involved in a sport that involves a fair amount of immodesty in which red-blooded American male coaches are interacting with these girls? Or, worse yet, where the infatuation of the body eventually effects the lesbian coaches?”

Kevin Swanson

Swanson has a history of faulty logic when he’s trying to determine matters of cause and effect. This January, he claimed that the record-setting fires that devastated Southern California late last year were God’s punishment for “turning pedophiliacs and homosexuals into heroes” by implementing school curriculums that recognize the achievements of LGBT people. When discussing the loss of embattled Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore, Swanson said data that showed Alabama as one of the states that spent the most time on the website Pornhub in 2016 was likely to blame for Moore’s loss to Democrat Doug Jones, saying Alabama “probably has significant sexual problems, especially since Doug Jones is so in favor of sexual perversion, transgenderism and homosexuality. Evidently, the state of Alabama must have a problem with sexuality. It’s obvious.”
