Chuck Todd to Ted Cruz: ‘Stop blaming the media — the voters hate you’

On this Sunday’s Meet The Press, host Chuck Todd pummeled guest Ted Cruz after he repeatedly refused to answer whether he would support Donald Trump if he were to win the GOP nomination. Todd rejected Cruz’s assertion that the media is conspiring against him in favor of Trump, telling him simply that voters don’t want Cruz as their commander in chief.

Cruz maintained that if Trump is the nominee, the Republican Party will lose to Hillary Clinton, prompting a frustrated Todd to ask Cruz again if he would put everything aside and support Trump.

“I recognize that many in the media would love for me to surrender to Donald Trump,” responded Cruz.

“It’s not about the media,” Cruz shot back. “It’s about the numbers. He may win. Republican voters are the ones rejecting you. This is not a media conspiracy, senator.” Cruz continued to attack Trump and said that the execs over at NBC are “partisan Democrats.”

“You don’t get to say that, it’s just not true,” Todd said incredulously.

Cruz waved away Todd’s comment and sprung right back into his Trump and media attack plan. Again, Todd asked if he will support a nominated Donald Trump.

“I am going to beat Donald Trump,” Cruz said.

“Let the record show you have not taken a position on whether you can support Trump if he’s the nominee,” Todd concluded.
