CNN’s John Avlon: Less Than $300,000 of Sarah Palin’s PAC Money Went to Candidates (VIDEO)

In a follow-up to a piece DeadState published this Friday, Sarah Palin has been accused of hypocrisy after CNN’s John Avlon slammed her in The Daily Beast for spending a “vast amount of money” on consultants — after railing against them during her speech at CPAC 2013.

Appearing on CNN with Wolf Blitzer this Saturday, Avlon said that with some of Palin’s financial dealings now coming to light, there should be a “big irony alert” to accompany any future viewings of her speech at CPAC.

“In addition to it being a very well-written speech by a speechwriter, what the FEC filings for her PAC show is that the vast amount of the money raised and spent in the last election cycle was on consultants,” Avlon said. “It did not go to candidates. In fact, less than $300,000 went to candidates. She spent more on her top consultant than she did on all the candidates she doled out money to.”

Towards the end of the segment, Blitzer asked if Palin’s political influence within the GOP has waned. Avlon replied that Palin is still “an influencer,” but not the “king maker” she percieves herself to be. “We’re somewhere between business and racket right now.”
