Conservative radio host blames Molly Tibbetts for her own murder: ‘Why were you jogging outdoors?’

Aside from his obsession with pro-Trump conspiracy theories, Wayne Allen Root has a history of pathetically bad takes. Now he’s applying his detestable backwards logic to the case of murdered college student Molly Tibbetts.

During his radio program this Tuesday, Root wondered why Tibbetts would subject herself to the vulnerability of jogging outside. After all, the U.S. is crawling with illegal aliens looking to commit murder.

“She has every right to be jogging,” Root said in a video clip flagged by Right Wing Watch. “But I just don’t get it.”

“Why are you jogging outdoors?” he added. “Go get a treadmill and watch TV and jog. Why are you jogging outdoors where there’s a chance some crazy person can attack you?

According to Root, Democrats have created a country unsafe for women to jog outdoors.

“We don’t live in a country that’s safe,” he continued. “What can I tell you? It’s terrible. And why isn’t it safe? Because Democrats have an open border and there’s too many bad people coming in to the country. Everyone has got to be careful. I jog in a treadmill in my gym. Why are you jogging outdoors?”

Root hammered home his contention that if Tibbetts had only joined a gym, she’d still be alive.

“You can join a gym,” he said. “I work out every day and I’m on the bike in the gym and I’m on the treadmill in the gym and I’m on the elliptical in the gym and I’m on the rower in the gym, those four are my life and I watch TV or a movie while I’m doing it.”

“I’m not risking my life. I’m not going to get run over by a car or a Mack truck; and if you’re a woman, you’re not going to get attacked raped and murdered. I don’t understand why anyone takes a chance jogging outdoors where you can get run over by a car or you can get attacked by some bad person.”
