One of Donald Trump’s most vocal supporters showed up to Charlottesville, Virginia for the Alt-Right and neo-Nazi rally to lend his voice and support. According to former Grand Dragon of the KKK David Duke, today’s white supremacist movement is fulfilling Trump’s vision for America.
“We are determined to take our country back,” Duke said. “We are going to fulfill the promises of Donald Trump. That’s what we believed in. That’s why we voted for Donald Trump, because he said he’s going to take our country back.”

The Charlottesville rally is nominally about the removal of a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee rather than anything in the Trump administration. But Duke was an enthusiastic supporter of Trump as far back as the Republican primary in 2016, and Trump’s reluctance to disavow that support was, briefly, a big issue.
Later in the day, Duke addressed a tweet condemning the violence from President Trump:
I would recommend you take a good look in the mirror & remember it was White Americans who put you in the presidency, not radical leftists. https://t.co/Rkfs7O2Ykr
