Donald Trump tells Fox News that Vladimir Putin is ‘doing a better job’ than Obama

Republican president nominee Donald Trump said during an interview Thursday with Fox & Friends host Brian Kilmeade that Russian leader Vladimir Putin is “doing a better job” than President Obama.

“I said he’s a better leader than Obama because Obama’s not a leader,” Trump said. “He’s certainly doing a better job than Obama is, that’s all.”

Trump then stressed that the US government must improve relations with Russia and blamed the current climate with the former Soviet Union on President Obama.

“Now look, you have to understand, Putin — if we could get along with Russia, I think that would be a good thing, not a bad thing. We don’t get along with Russia. We practically don’t get along with too many.”

“You know why they do that?” he asked. “They have no respect for our leader. They have zero respect for our leader. That’s why they do that.”

“I don’t think they’d be doing that,” Trump added of his possible presidency. “I don’t think they’d be doing that for one minute.”

Trump’s comments come in the wake of cyber-security experts saying that Russian hackers breached the Democratic National Committee and leaked the private emails of officials. Earlier this week, Trump also called on the Russian government to hack into Hillary Clinton‘s emails that were not handed over to the FBI during its year long investigation.
