Former New York City mayor turned Donald Trump foot soldier Rudy Giuliani was the butt of some of Hillary Clinton’s jokes at the Al Smith dinner this week. The dinner is a tradition in presidential election years where both nominees attend and trade light-hearted barbs with each other.
Clinton gave a shout-out to the “wonderful elected officials” in the room — the “honorable Chuck Schumer, the honorable Andrew Cuomo, the honorable Mike Bloomberg.”
“And, we have Rudy Giuliani,” she said as the audience laughed.
As the camera turned to Giuliani, he wasn’t laughing.
“Many don’t know this, but Rudy actually got his start as a prosecutor going after wealthy New Yorkers who avoided paying taxes,” Clinton continued. “But as the saying goes, if you can’t beat ‘em, go on Fox News and call ‘em a genius.”
He didn’t like that one either.
