Everyone should watch Adam Schiff connect the dots between Trump and Russia

Although the evidence may still be circumstantial, the web of intrigue descending on the Trump White House regarding its possible collusion with Russia grows wider, especially after yesterday’s testimony from FBI Director James Comey at a House Intelligence hearing.

Before Comey’s testimony, the committee’s ranking Democrat Adam Schiff (CA) laid out the case connecting the Trump campaign to Russian operatives in a cold, yet powerfully coherent opening statement.

In a matter of about 15 minutes, Schiff constructed a timeline of events linking Trump campaign officials such as former National Security Adviser Mike Flynn and former campaign manager Paul Manafort to Russian government officials. One account mentioned by Schiff was when Trump campaign officials lobbied the Republican Party to delete from its platform a section that defended Ukraine from Russian aggression.

Ultimately, Schiff argued that the amount of smoke surrounding the timeline of events is enough to warrant a full-scale investigation.

“Is it possible that all of these events and reports are completely unrelated, and nothing more than an entirely unhappy coincidence? Yes, it is possible,” Schiff said.

“But it is also possible, maybe more than possible, that they are not coincidental, not disconnected and not unrelated, and that the Russians used the same techniques to corrupt U.S. persons that they have employed in Europe and elsewhere. We simply don’t know, not yet, and we owe it to the country to find out.”
