Ex-cop Michael Slager indicted for the murder of Walter Scott

A grand jury in South Carolina has indicted former police officer Michael Slager for the murder of Walter Scott.

Back in April, Slager shot Scott, an unarmed African American man, in the back 8 times as he ran away after a routine traffic stop. After a disturbing video of the killing shot by a witness emerged, Slager was fired from the North Charleston S.C Police Department the very next day.

After the video surfaced, another recording was released where Slager could be heard laughing about the shooting and talking about the pumping “adrenaline” he felt after killing Scott:

The video contradicted Slager’s claims that he shot the 50-year-old Scott during a defensive struggle for his stun gun, revealing that Scott was sprinting away from Slager when the former patrolmen opened fire

If convicted, he faces 30 years to life with no parole.
