In a tweet this Wednesday, Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) floated a new tactic in the GOP’s campaign to divert blame for the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, by blaming Nancy Pelosi.
Stefanik was retweeting a tweet from New York Post reporter Juliegrace Brufke, but the Brufke has since deleted the tweet and it’s not immediately know what the message was. But whatever it was, Stejanik claimed that it indicated Pelosi is hiding something.
“This is what Pelosi is so afraid of,” Stefanik wrote. “Because SHE as Speaker of the House is responsible for not securing the Capitol on 1/6. That is the truth. And she is scared of the facts or even basic questions. This is the PEOPLE’s House, and Pelosi is destroying it.”

Recent reports say Pelosi rejected two of the five Republicans House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy had tapped for the commission to investigate the events of Jan. 6.
“Pelosi’s decision to reject the two Republicans — and McCarthy’s response to pull the rest his members — injected new fuel into the partisan fight over the select committee that’s been raging since Democrats created the panel last month to investigate the circumstances surrounding the January 6 attack on the Capitol,” CNN reports.
