Hashtag designed to bash Millennials gets hijacked by Millennials and spits truth

Over the weekend, the hashtag #HowToConfuseAMillennial started to trend on Twitter. It was a cute way to bash what many in my generation and above think is a culture of apathy and privilege.

“Turn off their autocorrect. #HowToConfuseAMillennial”

“Show them a phone booth. #HowToConfuseAMillennial”

“Show them a rotary phone. #HowToConfuseAMillennial”

“Hey, look at this video cassette recorder. #HowToConfuseAMillennial”

The jokes pretty much wrote themselves.

As annoying as some may think Millennials are, it’s wrong to underestimate them. Soon enough, the hashtag got turned in its ear and ended up being a commentary on how the generations before them has a ton of catching up to do – and how they’ve self-righteously screwed Millennials over.
