Cuban cartoonist Angel Boligan does just that with his extensive collection of comics, providing a scathing commentary on politics and society with his haunting drawings.

Boligan has received more than 130 national awards for his work — and it’s no wonder that they’ve garnered so much attention, considering how hard they hit the observer. The topics he most touches on most are consumerism, corruption and hypocrisy.
