Hero police officer whips out boob and saves abandoned baby’s life

A Colombian police officer went above and beyond the call of duty to save a newborn baby’s life on Thursday.

Officer Luisa Fernanda Urrea was called to the scene after police discovered the abandoned child in a remote forest in Colombia. The baby girl was crying in the undergrowth with her umbilical cord still attached.

“I was collecting some oranges when I heard something crying,” Edinora Jimenez, a local woman who discovered the baby said. “I thought it was a cat until I looked closer and saw that it was a baby girl.”

She was starving and within the grips of hypothermia from exposure. Using quick thinking and compassion, Urrea, a new mother herself, began breastfeeding the girl from her own milk.

“I’m a new mother and I have milk, and I recognized the needs that this poor little creature had… I think any woman would have given her nourishment in the same circumstances.”

According to Yahoo, the baby was released to the Colombian Family Welfare Institute until it finds an adoptive home for her. Police are searching for the mother, who may face criminal charges.

“We could be dealing with a case of attempted homicide, although it’s the prosecutor who will decide the charge,” orphanage director Jhon Arley Murillo said.
