Idiots at Westboro Baptist Church put Ivory Coast’s flag on signs attacking Ireland

Turning their sights toward Ireland and its vote to legalize gay marriage this week, the Westboro Baptist Church got some major egg on its face when they mistakenly put the flag of Ivory Coast on their vile signs, rather than Ireland’s.

The group posted images of the Irish flag with text condemning the 60 percent majority who voted for same-sex marriage this Saturday. However, the WBC didn’t do their research and ended up dissing the Ivory Coast. The two nations have very similar flags, with Ireland’s green, white and orange stripes starting from left to right, while the Ivory Coast’s is the opposite.

When the group was called out for the screw up, they claimed they turned the flag around on purpose to signify “distress.”

In the WBC’s Vine video below, a man is trying to show a nation in distress by holding its flag upside down, but the process is way too complicated for him. Some kid (holding a poster with a homophobic slur) shows up to inform the guy that his own poster incorrectly has the Ivory Coast flag printed on it, to which he impatiently tells the kid, “But this is the only way to show it’s in distress!”

Just in case anyone still isn’t clear:
