Evan McMullin ran for president in 2016 as a conservative Independent. In the wake of Donald Trump‘s surge to the presidency, he’s has been an unrelenting critic of the president-elect.
Many of McMullin’s polemics against Trump have reached a wide audience on Twitter. Late last month, he broke down the serious implications surrounding Trump’s fraudulent claim that “millions of people” voted “illegally” on Election Day contributing to Hillary Clinton‘s win of the popular vote by over 2.5 million.
According to McMullin Trump’s claim— whether conscious or unconscious — is a classic authoritarian tactic which aims to inflate the image of his legitimacy while casting the groundswell of public opposition as illegitimate.
On Sunday, film producer and Twitter user Brian Koppelman asked McMullin, “What can the average American do, right now, in a real way, to resist the authoritarian moves that are about to commence?”
McMullin gave his response in a 10-part tweetstorm:
.@briankoppelman: If Trump governs as an authoritarian like he has promised, it will be critical that Americans do the following 10 things: https://t.co/ib56XSPTSe
