Jerry Springer: ‘If the GOP is going to copy my show, they should start paying me’

According to trash TV icon Jerry Springer, the GOP should be cutting him a check considering that they’re modeling their debates after his show.

Appearing on Steve Kornacki’s MSNBC show this Tuesday, Springer was asked about recent comparisons between the GOP race and his sometimes vulgar and violent tabloid show.

“Well, they’re absolutely right. In fact, when I first started watching the Republican debates, I said that, you know, if they’re going to do my show, they should start paying me,” Springer said. “You know, it’s one thing to have a television show like that, but that’s not how you run a country. And it’s disgraceful.”

Springer went on to say that while he likes the message Bernie Sanders propagates, he thinks Hillary Clinton is a much more sure shot to win the general election.

“I love what Bernie Sanders says. I have nothing negative to say about him, but if you’re asking me honestly is America in a general election going to vote for him, I could be wrong, but I don’t think so,” he said. “I think once the Republicans start really attacking him and saying, oh, we can’t have this socialist, it’s going to lead to communism, you know the kind of ads they’re going to run against him. Anything they run against Hillary we already know. We’ve lived with her for the last 30 years. So, that’s not going — that’s not going to move the needle.”

“But I think with Bernie it could really result in the Democrats not winning the presidency,” he added.
