John McCain tells Trump: If you waterboard or torture, I’ll see you in court

This Saturday, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) warned president-elect Donald Trump not to utilize waterboarding or other forms of torture as an anti-terror tactic.

In a speech at the Halifax International Security Forum, McCain said that he and other members of Congress are prepared to fight Trump if he uses illegal means to garner information.

“I don’t give a damn what the president wants to do,” he said. “We will not waterboard. We will not torture people.”

He added that anyone who utilizes torture will find themselves in court in a “New York minute.”

“If they started waterboarding, I swear to you that we’d have them in court in a New York minute,” McCain said.

When the moderator asked McCain if he had spoken to Trump since the election, McCain said he had and it went “fine.”

“Did he offer you a job?” the moderator asked.

“Missed that,” McCain quipped.
