The run-up to the Sochi Olympics brought a lot of attention and outrage to Russia’s draconian anti-gay laws – making people wonder if things could really be as horrific in that country as portrayed in the media.
John Stewart’s “The Daily Show” decided to head over to investigate for themselves, and the resulting segment pretty much confirmed all our worst fears, partly thanks to an interview with one of Putin’s government spokesmen.
In addition, Daily Show correspondent Jason Jones discovered that a whopping 74% of Russians are anti-gay. But within that despicable majority, there are pockets of brave dissent.
