Jon Stewart slams CNN’s Wolf Blitzer for being completely dumbfounded by Baltimore riots

On the Daily Show this week, Jon Stewart was amazed at how baffled CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer was regarding the unrest in Baltimore.

“Like Watts and Detroit in the ’60s, Georgia in the ’70s, Miami in the ’80s, L.A. and St. Petersburg in the ’90s, these cyclical eruptions appear like tragedy-cicadas, depressing in their similarity,” Stewart said.

He then played a few clips of Blitzer acting dumbfounded by the violence.

“Hard to believe this is going on in a major American city right now,” Blitzer said in one clip. “This is a scene that a lot of us never anticipated seeing in a city like Baltimore,” he said in another.

“This sh*t happens all the time!” Stewart said incredulously. “Ferguson was just a few months ago — and you were talking about it!”

Naturally, Stewart then rolled a clip of Blitzer from just a few months ago:

“It’s hard for me to believe that in this day and age — 2014, so many years after Dr. Martin Luther King and the civil rights movement — we’re seeing National Guard troops on the street,” Blitzer said while reporting on Ferguson. “It’s something I didn’t think we’d be seeing again.”
