Kevin Swanson parenting tips: ‘Drown yourself’ before your kids watch ‘homosexual mentor’ Harry Potter

Following speeches from Republican candidates Ted Cruz, Mike Huckabee and Bobby Jindal, preacher Kevin Swanson went on a bizarre extended rant at the National Religious Liberties Conference.

Preacher Kevin Swanson went on an extended rant at the National Religious Liberties Conference — following speeches from Republican candidates Ted Cruz, Mike Huckabee and Bobby Jindal on the previous day – on why America must repent over legal abortion, birth control, and the immoral themes in county music.

However, Swanson’s diatribe took an interesting turn when he said parents should be “drowned” before they let their children read J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter because of the gay character Dumbledore.

“America, repent of Harry Potter. Repent that Dumbledore emerged as a homosexual mentor for Harry Potter,” Swanson said. “For tens of millions of parents it would be better that a millstone be hung around their neck and they be drowned at the bottom of the sea.”

“Hiccup’s mentor in ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ emerged as a homosexual himself in order that history might repeat itself one more time,” Swanson said.

Swanson’s comments come on the heals of Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz’s response when asked  if the next President of the United States needed to fear God.

“Any president who doesn’t begin every day on his knees isn’t fit to be commander-in-chief of this nation,” Cruz said.

Watch:

“By claiming that those who do not pray are not fit for office, Senator Cruz is perpetuating the prejudiced myth that humanists and atheists are not moral people,” said Bishop McNeill, manager of the Freethought Equality Fund PAC.

Both Cruz and Swanson’s comments are not particularly surprising given their history. Cruz, who opposes marriage equality, grew up with a anti-gay father who’s given sermons alleging gay people are sexual predators. While the “sins” of the fathers should not reflect on the son, it does go a long way in understanding Cruz’s position on the LGBT community and equal rights.

    Drown yourselves, immediately!

I’ll pray. I’ll pray that each and every one of these self-righteous fanatics (who ignore Matt 6:5-6) will each have a son or daughter who “comes out” and embarrasses them, publicly. It happened to Dick Cheney who decided that sexual identity is a chance, not a choice, after years of hawking the conservative religious agenda, when his daughter turned out to be a lesbian.

Mike Davis: So you’re saying you will pray to God, to ultimately punish your neighbors by intentionally administrating onto them a sin which God, himself, established as such, and forbade his followers to engage in for consequence of eternal damnation? I think you, yourself, have just committed a sin according to your religious beliefs. Time to add “confessional visit” to your calendar. Better put it on repeat.

No, “John Wayne” (or whoever you are hiding behind a pseudonym), you miss my attempt at sarcasm. To begin with, my religious beliefs are personal. I do not wear them on my sleeve, and I sure as hell do not attempt to force them on anyone else or to pretend I know “the mind of God.”.
As far as God “establishing” what is sin, perhaps you forget that God has written nothing. Jesus has written nothing. Everything you read in the”scripture” of your choice is written by man, essentially all unknown authors who, while they may be seen as “inspired” by God, nevertheless are simply writing what they believe is the mind of God. Your own religious beliefs are dependent upon the veracity you attribute to that “leap of faith.”
The point of my post is that until you have a personal family encounter with a gay or transgender child or grandchild, you cannot possibly understand that such aberrations or defects are not a sinful choice. These unfortunate beings are God’s own creation, not man’s own choice. Who on earth would willfully choose to be an outcast or choose to be ostracized by the “wholesomeness” of “true believers?”
Science is proving that there is some genetic or chemical anomaly that causes gender identity issues. These people cannot help it, any more than a person with diabetes, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s or a host of ailments of your choice. Many “religious” counseling centers have closed down and given up trying to “correct” such behaviors by “prayer and counseling” when they found it doesn’t work.
This “preacher” is a clueless pundit who is judging from a position of total ignorance.
