L.A. cop caught on video grabbing woman’s cellphone, smashing it on the sidewalk

According to a YouTube video that was published in April 19, a woman can be seen recording policemen in tactical gear assembled on a sidewalk with her cellphone camera, just before an officer approaches her and violently rips the phone form her hand, smashing it on the ground. The incident took place in South Gate, California.

In the video the phone can be heard smashing on the concrete sidewalk. The officer then kicks the phone at the woman.

“Oh sh*t!” the person filming exclaims.

The officer and his colleagues then walk away in unison.

The description on the video says that the officers are with the “South Gate/Montebello police.” The blog Photography is Not a Crime identifies the officer as a United States Marshal.
