Laughter erupts in press room at Sean Spicer’s explanation of ‘covfefe’

During a press briefing this Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer added to the social media hysteria over President Trump’s misspelled and incomplete tweet that became an overnight viral sensation.

When asked by a reporter if people “should be concerned” that the President posted “somewhat of an incoherent tweet” that stayed up for hours, Spicer started out by simply replying, “no.”

When the reporter pressed Spicer on why the tweet stayed up for so many hours, his reply suggested that the rest of us simply aren’t in on the joke.

“The President and a small group of people know exactly what he meant,” Spicer replied, prompting a chorus of laughter to erupt in the room. He then refused to answer any more questions on the subject.

Shortly after midnight on Tuesday, Trump tweeted, “Despite the constant negative press covfefe.”
The tweet unleashed a flood of mockery from Twitter users.

Trump deleted the tweet shortly before 6 a.m., and posted a new message that read, “Who can figure out the true meaning of ‘covfefe’ ???”
