Lindsey Graham: Trump firing Mueller will be ‘the beginning of the end of his presidency’

As Trump continues to attack his own Attorney General Jeff Sessions, a growing backlash from his own party is becoming more vocal. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham (SC) was one of the first to speak out, saying that if Sessions is fired there will be “holy hell to pay.”

“I’m 100 percent behind Jeff Sessions,” Graham told CNN Thursday morning. “If Jeff Sessions is fired, there will be holy hell to pay.” Graham also added that “any effort to go after [Special Counsel Robert Mueller] could be the beginning of the end of the Trump presidency, unless Mueller did something wrong.”

Graham also slammed Trump for trying to “marginalize and humiliate” Sessions, adding that Trump’s antics are “unnerving” and “go way beyond what’s acceptable in a rule-of-law nation.”

“This is not draining the swamp,” Graham said. “What he’s interjecting is turning democracy upside down.

“This effort to basically marginalize and humiliate the attorney general is not going over well in the Senate,” Graham continued. “If you believe Jeff Sessions should be fired, use the power you have and accept the consequences.”
