Miss America contestant slams Donald Trump on live TV: ‘He’s an entertainer and the GOP should be terrified’

I didn’t watch the Miss America pageant this weekend, but that because it’s the last place I’d expect to see a moment like this.

I didn’t watch the Miss America pageant this weekend, but that because it’s the last place I’d expect to see a moment like this.

The question and answer period of these pageants are famously disastrous. But when Miss Alabama Meg McGuffin was asked what she thought was the reason Donald Trump has over 30 percent of the vote, she took the opportunity to slam the GOP candidate and former owner of the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants for the damage he’s doing to the GOP.

She started by referring to The Donald as an “entertainer.”

I think Donald Trump is an entertainer. And I think he says what’s on a lot of people’s minds, but I think that the Republican Party should be absolutely terrified of all the attention that he is taking from incredible candidates like Jeb Bush and Chris Christie who could absolutely do the job of president of the United States. And if I were a Republican, I’d be absolutely terrified of that.

Some jeers could be heard from the audience in response to McGuffin’s comments, which shows that even beauty pageants aren’t immune from Trumpite venom.

It doesn’t bother me that Miss Alabama thinks that Donnie Chump is a total disaster (which he is). It bothers me that she believes that *ANY* of the GOP contenders could ever make for a good president. Not that I ever expect intelligence from beauty pageant contestants…

She had my attention and respect until she mentioned Bush and Christie.

^ i am a life long democrat. the above comment represents a self-absorbed, judgmental attitude that we cannot afford. this kind of bitter, dismissive approach is unamerican and destructive. we eed to bring back respect and civility to the discussion. thank you.

Oh I wasn’t aware that being pretty and being intelligent were mutually exclusive!

    ….if I were a republican…
She chose to speak the truth~ at immediate personal risk of losing payoffs of being Miss America…disregarding my own negative general opinion of beauty pageants… I respect her intellect because of her personal sacrifice to speak truthfully about the trump within his own entertainment racket event. I’m rather impressed with her diplomacy and egalitarian skills.
