Neil deGrasse Tyson reads mean tweets from folks who don’t like his sci-fi movie critiques

Science communicator and astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson responded to mean Tweets he’s received from online critics in a new video from the ongoing mini-series Star Talk on Natgeotv.com.

Tyson, who hosts “Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey in 2014,” has recently taken to Twitter as a means to give commentary on freshly produced science fiction movies and debunk Hollywood’s take on science.

Not everyone is happy or a fan of Tyson’s tweets.

But he is now fighting back. Tyson first reads a Tweet from @JoshFromSchool, calling the scientist a “dweeb” and says “nobody watches science fiction movies for the science.”

Tyson responded:

“I wouldn’t say nobody watches science fiction moves for the science. I would say for sure @JoshFromSchool doesn’t watch science fiction movies for the science. But if you watch science fiction movies for the science you can get ideas about how to invent tomorrow,” he continued. “So, among all those who are inventing tomorrow, I do not expect to see @JoshFromSchool among you.”
