New poll shows Trump likely to beat Clinton in general election but loses to Sanders

A new Fox News poll has Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump beating Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton by three points in a hypothetical general election.

The new poll, which was published on Tuesday, has Trump in the lead at 45 percent to 42 percent, just edging over the Democratic front-runner. Last month, another Fox poll had Clinton up by 48 percent to 41 percent.

Clinton’s primary rival Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders still leads Trump 46 percent to 42 percent in the same poll and he also leads the real estate mogul in every national election survey published this year.

According to The Hill, the GOP presumptive nominee finds most of his supporters among white males, leading Clinton 55 percent to 31 percent. That margin grows among whites without a college degree, Trump’s 61 percent to just 24 percent of Clinton’s.

The poll surveyed 1,021 registered voters from May 14-17 and has a margin of error of 3 points.
