Obama incinerates the GOP: ‘You claim to be for family values, and you nominate this guy?’

Speaking in Columbus, Ohio this Thursday night, President Barack Obama excoriated Republicans who created Donald Trump but are now distancing themselves from him.

“The people who knew better didn’t say anything,” Obama said. “They didn’t say, ‘we can’t allow our politics to descend into the gutter.’ They stood by while this happened.”

Obama’s words were a footnote to First Lady Michelle Obama’s earlier speech slamming the GOP nominee, saying the words she heard him say in a 2005 video had “shaken me to my core.”

Obama also noted that many of the GOP-ers abandoning Trump shouldn’t get a pat on the back for doing so.

“They don’t get credit for, at the very last minute, when finally the guy that they nominated is caught on tape saying things that no decent person would even think, much less say, much less brag about.”

“You can’t wait until that finally happens and then say, ‘That’s too much,’” Obama said.

“You claim the mantle of the party of ‘family values,’ and this is the guy you nominate?” Obama said incredulously. “And stand by and endorse and campaign with, until finally at the 11th hour you withdraw your nomination?”

“You don’t get credit for that,” Obama declared.

“You’re the party that’s tough on foreign policy and opposes Russia — and you nominate this guy, whose role model is Vladimir Putin, the former head of the KGB?”

“I’m sorry — what happened?”
