Police find and detonate explosives at home of Trump supporter who threatened Muslims

California Police detonated an explosive device in the home of William Celli, a 55-year-old Trump supporter, after receiving tips that he was constructing homemade explosives.

Celli was arrested on December 20, 2015 after yelling, “I’m going to kill you all” outside of the Islamic Society of West Contra Costa in Richmond, California. Celli will spend just 90 days in jail for being caught in possession of an explosive device and threatening the lives of others . He took a plea deal that places him under probation for three years and forbids him from operating his profile — even though his account remains active.

In a grammar-deficient Facebook post from October, Celli wrote, “Donald trumps on again I’m happy leaders okay but this guys a great point man I’ll follow this MAN to the end of the world.”

Donald Trump’s on again I’m feeling good about myself

“We welcome the jail time handed out in this case and are appreciative of the cooperation and support from law enforcement and the district attorney’s office shown to the local Muslim community,” said Executive Director Zahra Billoo of the Council on American-Islamic Relations SFBA in a statement. “At a time when attacks on mosques and Muslim individuals are at an all-time high, this will send a message that such actions will have consequences.”

Compared to sentencing of the Duka brothers who are all serving life sentences for allegedly planning an attack on Fort Dix, Celli’s sentencing seems pretty lenient. The brothers were sentenced despite denying multiple times any intent to undertake such an attack. The brothers were arrested while illegally buying firearms.

Celli isn’t the first American to get a lenient sentence for threatening Muslims. Former congressional candidate Robert Rankin Doggart said he was, “plotting the annihilation” of a Muslim community in New York and was let go on a guilty plea.
