A man and his friends are now out of a job over a selfie anyone with even a touch of social and cultural awareness should have known not to take.
The photo, taken by one of the now-former employees of Polaris Marking Group (PMG) with a co-worker’s black child, has been plastered all over social media. Gerod Roth, who used the alia Geris Hilton, on Sept. 16, posted the photo of himself looking at the child with a side-eye.
Of course, it didn’t take long for the racist hate to spew forth from the bowels of the interwebs.
“I didn’t know you were a slave owner,” said Emily Irene Reid. Another poster said, “I’ll feed you, but first let me take a selfie.”

PMG Marketing group released the following statement after learning of Gerod’s racism:
The poster, identifying herself as Emily Irene Reid, has also been fired from Conch Republic Grill in Atlanta, Georgia.
