Richard Dawkins tears into Ben Carson: His belief in creationism is a ‘deeply depressing disgrace’

Atheist intellectual and famed evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins blasted the Republican Party on CNN over the weekend for their continued promotion of creationism over evolution. Dawkins particularly targeted GOP candidate Ben Carson, a former neurosurgeon, for his beliefs that ignore scientific conclusions.

Carson worked as a neurosurgeon at Johns Hopkins Hospital from 1984 to 2013. Despite Carson’s long career in medicine and science, the Republican front runner recently stated his belief that the world was created in 6 days in accordance with The Book of Genesis.

“For a very senior eminent distinguished doctor as he is to say [he does not believe in evolution] is even worse. Because of course, evolution is the bedrock of biology and biology is the bedrock of medicine,” Dawkins said to CNN’s Fareed Zakaria. “He clearly doesn’t understand the fundamental theorem of his own subject. That is a terrible indictment.”

Of the numerous candidates for the Republican ticket, only Jeb Bush states that he believed in evolution, but still does not think it should be taught in schools. Every other candidate strongly believes in creationism, with the exception of Donald Trump, who has not voiced an opinion on the issue.

“You just told me all the Republican candidates except one don’t believe in evolution. I mean, that’s a disgrace,” said Dawkins to CNN’s Fareed Zakaria.

Dawkins believes that the Republican candidates openly state their beliefs and ignore accepted science as a way to pander to the religious right. “And if that’s true,” continued Dawkins, “it’s deeply depressing.”

Although nearly no democrats believe in creationism, the belief remains incredibly popular among Republicans throughout the country. Creationism continues to attract religious believers, despite the fact that many churches now accept evolution and believe it is compatible with their religious views.

“It is a form of arrogance to say we know what God does,” Dawkins said, concluding his comments. “The only way to know anything is by looking at the evidence. In this particular case, the evidence is overwhelming… In the case of evolution, there is no doubt. It is a fact.”

Where is the evidence to prove your fact Mr Dawkins. Just saying it’s a fact doesn’t make it a fact. Gravity is a fact. All you would have to do to prove it is get on your roof and jump.
Darwin never proved the THEORY of evolution and neither can you.
This delicate clockwork balance we call homeostasis is not the result of happen stance. Every great design has a designer. You can’t negate it because your little brain with it’s 14 billion cells cant comprehend it.
Show me the person that has ever seen one animal evolve from itself to a different animal and never return to it’s original being.
I’m not talking about adaptation or the ever so infrequent black swan. I’m talking Darwin’s Evolution.
At what point did Darwin’s Evolution stop?
What are we humans evolving into? A bunch of self centered, pat ourselves on the back for all our achievements, self idolatrous jack asses?
Darwin set out on an adventure which took him half way around the world from his little community, to prove to his worth in a family and community that had a few people who excelled. He came up with an elaborate system for classification of animals and that is where he should have quit.
The rest of his fictional ponderings are hog wash and will one day be relegated to the annals of science fiction.
What ever you believe in with all your heart and soul is your religion. Atheism is also a religion and self worship is the greatest form of idolatry in this modern world.

Dr. Dawkins is not a famed evolutionary biologist. He is a loudmouth and boorish bigot who rails against the God of the Bible. His angst, I might add, is directed against a Deity that he claims not to believe in. His claim that evolution is the bedrock of biology is also incorrect.

Here are two well-respected opinions that Dawkins will not tell you about:

1-“Evolution is baseless and quite incredible.” —*John Ambrose Fleming, President, British Association for Advancement of Science, in The Unleashing of Evolutionary Thought.

2- “Through use and abuse of hidden postulates, of bold, often ill-founded extrapolations, a pseudoscience has been created. It is taking root in the very heart of biology and is leading astray many biochemists and biologists, who sincerely believe that the accuracy of fundamental concepts has been demonstrated, which is not the case.” — de Grasse, Pierre P. (1977). The Evolution of Living Organisms. p. 202. Pierre P. Grasse (1895 – 1985) Editor of the 28-volume “Traite de Zoologie” Chair of Evolution at Sorbonne University
