Sean Hannity apologizes for seemingly justifying pedophilia on his show

Speaking on his radio show this Thursday, Sean Hannity shared his thoughts on the recent allegations against Alabama Senate nominee Roy Moore. But he soon found out that trying to rationalize pedophilia accusations to a national audience has its pitfalls.

On the radio, Hannity’s attempted apology tour started out with the suggestion that the accusations against Moore were part of a conspiracy by “the establishment” to bring him down, which immediately led him to question the credibility of Moore’s accusers.

“How do you possibly tell, know the truth, except — okay, so, the two other girls were older in this case. He was apparently, like, 32, and he dated — one girl was 18, one girl was 17, they never said he did — there was no sexual — there was kissing involved, and then they’re saying this one encounter with a 14 year old…”

At that point, Hannity’s co-host Lynda McLaughlin chimed in to clarify that the relationships were “consensual.”

“And consensual, that’s true,” Hannity agreed.

Later that evening, Hannity took to Twitter to say that he was referring to 17 and 18-year-olds when said the word “consensual.”

“As I said on TV tonight, I apologize when I misspoke and was not totally clear earlier today,” Hannity tweeted. “It’s really sad when the lazy media in this country cuts and pastes a deceptive and out-of-context comment by a Soros-funded, radical, left-wing group that has purposefully taken me out of context for years. My comments on the topic of Judge Moore were clear and unambiguous both on radio and on TV.”

The “Soros-funded, radical, left-wing group” Hannity was referring to was Media Matters, which posted a transcript of his words from the radio show.

This Thursday, The Washington Post broke a bombshell story highlighting the stories of four women who said that Moore pursued them sexually when they were teenagers and he was in his 30s. The most alarming accusation came from Leigh Corman, who said that when she was 14 and Moore was 32, he picked her up from her house and drove her to his home in the woods, told her how pretty she was, and kissed her. In a second encounter, she says Moore took off her shirt and pants and removed his clothes, touched her over her bra and underpants and guided her hand to touch him over his underwear.

“I wanted it over with — I wanted out,” she remembers thinking. She says she then asked Moore to drive her home, which he did.
